Implements CheckWorks’ Image Batch Retrieval and
Batch Store
Utilities serve as sophisticated middleware between
ImageExplorer/Enterprise and Viewpointe image archive
portal, enabling bank users to retrieve and store images
in request groups.
Atlanta, GA, November 18, 2003
– CheckWorks, an enterprise-wide document imaging
solutions company for financial institutions, announced
the availability of two new utilities for banks that
use the Viewpointe national Check Image archive. Batch
Retrieval is a utility that works as middleware
between an application that needs large groups of archived
images and the Viewpointe Media Manager archive portal.
Batch Store
is a related utility that also works as middleware between
an application that needs to store a group of images
and the CheckWorks ImageExplorer/Enterprise
product.
As a certified vendor for Viewpointe, CheckWorks
has developed and implemented both utilities into production
at the first site, Atlanta-based SunTrust Bank. Currently,
CheckWorks’ Batch
Retrieval/Batch Store is interfacing with Middleburg
Heights, Ohio-based Micrographic Sciences, Inc. ANF
Technology for Research Department usage. ANF Technology
bridges the gap between legacy systems and newer systems
to enable faster and more cost-effective image retrieval.
“Micrographic Sciences, Inc.'s ANF
Technologies provide a seamless integration of CheckWorks’
Batch
Retrieval/Batch Store product and the existing research
environments,” said Walter Silverman, senior systems
engineer at MSI. “MSI's ANF supports all major
bank research systems, and when coupled with CheckWorks’
Batch
Retrieval/Batch Store, it makes it possible for
banks to blend the Viewpointe national Check Image archive
into the existing research environment.”
According to Paul Edmisten, vice president,
enterprise project manager at SunTrust Bank, Batch
Retrieval has enabled SunTrust to improve operational
efficiencies and upgrade from paper-based processes
to an image-based process. “The batch retrieval
and batch store components have enabled SunTrust to
replace manual paper based processes with an automated
technical solution, therefore, improving the overall
turnaround time and method in which we present image
requests,” said Edmisten.
“The availability of both Batch
Retrieval and Batch
Store reflects a sophistication in document imaging
that we haven’t seen before in the industry, “
said Brian Heiss, co-founder and CTO of CheckWorks.
“Not only can the viewer be used for multiple
image objects such as statements and checks, it can
also be easily interfaced to other applications within
the financial institution.”
Since many of the images in a batch request
will likely already be on long-term storage, the retrieval
time can vary. Batch
Retrieval has extensive logic to log and track all
image requests as they are processed. Batch
Store allows a calling application to store a group
of images, regardless of its original source, into ImageExplorer/Enterprise
as a “Saved Request” that can then be viewed
with the CheckWorks ImageInsight
Viewers.
“The deployment of these products
represents a very successful working relationship between
ourselves, the other vendors and our business partners,”
said Allan Edmonds, co-founder and president of CheckWorks.
“It also enhances our position as a key provider
of document image solutions for the banking industry.”
